I think its going to be AI vs. AI. Bad actors deploying AI to hack into systems, influence people, and other stuff and responsible folks using AI to protect their assets and expose the bad actors. I don't see this as a possible scenario, I see it as the only way that we can "regulate" AI - "good" AI battling against "bad" AI. Think of the Internet - all the great ways it brings everything to our fingertips. But "everything" includes a lot of stuff we wish was not there. I see AI as the Internet on massive doses of steroids.. both good and bad.

I am not sure if if it matters what we think. The development of any technology for weapons is a foregone conclusion. One just has to hope that those developers and controllers are both intelligent and moral.

AI weapons will be a tier above the rest. We must be prepared to grapple potential tensions caused by these weapons.

Discussions to delay development of AI systems only serves to benefit those advocating for the delay and their hope to slow others work so they can catch-up or get ahead... if it can be weaponized, it will be... but, consistently defense innovation transfer to non defense uses will be the greater benefit in new products, productivity and quality of life.
